In
addition to our commitment to woodworking, we
are also committed to helping find a cure for
Cystic Fibrosis. We give a portion of our
annual sales to the foundation.
Cystic Fibrosis is the #1 genetic fatal disease
of children and young adults in America today.
10 million Americans are symptomeless carriers
of the defective gene that causes CF (that's 1
in 30 people). Over 30,000 children and young
adults are living with the devastating affects
of this monster every day. Affects that clogs
their airways with thick, sticky mucus causing
life-threatening lung infections and chronic
lung damage. Cystic Fibrosis also affects
its victims digestive system resulting in
malnutrition. In 1955 most children born with
Cystic Fibrosis did not live long enough to
attend kindergarten. Today half will live to see
age 37, "half will not"! While much progress has
been made toward treating CF, it's a sad fact
that we continue to lose precious lives to this
disease.
My grandson Matthew has Cystic Fibrosis....
